| I've been very busy and therefore a little unattached lately. A couple of weeks ago, I went with 3 other friends to Alabama to play 5 Robert Trent Jones golf courses in 3 days. What a fantastic outing! The courses were too difficult for me, but we had a marvelous time. I highly recommend this. The key is to have friends who are entirely comfortable together. We played golf all day, and then dominoes and Texas Hold 'Em at night.
Then last weekend (Easter) I worked at Real Deal on the Hill. This is an AAU basketball tournament held annually in Fayetteville, AR (home of the Razorbacks). We use facilities all over NW Arkansas, and hosted 156 teams from all over the country. Teams from Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Texas, Tennessee, Oklahoma. We hosted 48 of the top 50 high school roundballers in the country. It was hard work, but a lot of fun.
My wife, Kathy, returned to work this week after recuperating from hysterectomy surgery. She is almost back to normal, and so am I (if you know what I mean). I've really enjoyed her being home all day.
I'm looking forward to my final summer of church softball. At 52 years old, I'm just not as skilled as I used to be. Of course, I was always just one notch above mediocre anyway. Once I bragged that I hadn't lost a step. One of my buddies said, "Peters, if you lost a step, you'd be in a wheelchair!"
Oh, one more thing. For twenty years (1978-98), Kathy and I sang with a gospel group called The Joyful Noise. We recorded 8 albums during that period. All "accapella" music. Over the winter, I took all our original recordings from Digital Audio Tape, and transferred them into CD files. Then, we chose our favorites and made 4 CDs. Three are "contemporary", and one is just Hymns. If any of you are interested (it would be a great gift for your parents) write to joyfulnoiselr@yahoo.com and leave your name, address and where you want them sent. I'll send them out ASAP. The cost is $10 per CD, plus $5 shipping cost.
Anyhow, there's my monthly update. Not very interesting, I know, but it's the best I can offer at the moment. |
